Selection criteria
To ensure a successful course, we, unfortunately, have to limit the number of participants to a maximum of 75 persons. Therefore, the selection of participants is very competittive. We urge you to dediacte the time to prepare and submit a strong application to increase your chance of getting selected.
Participants will be selected by the ADVAC Scientific Committee, according to their: educational background, experience in vaccinology, decision-making level of responsibilities in vaccinology, and expected impact of the Course at personal, institutional and national levels. Each application is assessed individually by at least 8 Scientific Committee members.
If you have attended recently (past 2-3 years) a vaccinology course (as listed on the ICAVT website), you should refrain from applying to ADVAC, as we aim at training experts who haven't been able to be trained recently. After this period of 2-3 years, you can apply especially if you have changed of responsibilities at work.
Important recommendations
- Experience in Vaccinology:
Please indicate, with details, your most important vaccinology-related past experience and present activities. This information will be essential during the selection process (maximum one A4 page). Selected applicants have usually a significant experience in vaccinology, meaning they have worked at least 5 years in the immunization & vaccines area on leadership or mid-level positions. If you dont have such level of experience, we advise you to explore other vaccinology courses on the International Collaboration on Advanced Vaccinology Training (ICAVT) and apply to ADVAC in the future. - Motivation:
Indicate why you want to follow this course and how do you think this course may impact on your career, on your institution or on vaccination strategies at national/regional/global levels? Give details on your motivation(s). This information will be critical for the selection commmittee (maximum half a A4 page) - Publications:

These are mandatory. Please provide two signed and recently dated letters of recommendation on headed paper, one from a higher authority in your current Institution and another one from an expert outside of your current institution with whom you have worked in the past. In the first letter, your senior management must (i) confirm that your participation is encouraged by your own institution (ii) give details on your present and expected future responsibilities.
Institutions recommending more than one applicant should be aware that we will usually select only one applicant per institution. A separate letter should be written for each of the applicants.
A third letter of recommendation is also accepted.
You should scan the letters and attach them as pdf files to the application as requested at time of submission.
